About the CSS Minifier

Large stylesheets slow down page rendering. Our CSS minifier strips all irrelevant spaces, newlines, and comments to produce a lightweight string that browsers can parse significantly faster.

How to minify CSS

  1. Paste the stylesheet or CSS fragment into the editor.
  2. Run the minifier and inspect the compressed declarations and selectors.
  3. Use the output in a test build first, then verify media queries, custom properties, strings, and calc expressions.

Examples and worked results

Simple declaration

Input
.card { color: #333; padding: 16px; }
Result
.card{color:#333;padding:16px}

Comments and unnecessary whitespace are removed while quoted values and protected syntax are retained.

What this minifier changes

The browser-side cleaner removes comments and collapses safe whitespace around CSS punctuation. It does not perform a full stylesheet optimisation pass such as selector merging, dead-code removal, or vendor-prefix analysis.

Common use cases

  • Checking the compact form of a small stylesheet
  • Preparing snippets for a demo or email template
  • Comparing readable and compressed CSS during debugging

Important notes and limitations

  • A heuristic cleaner is not a substitute for a mature production build pipeline.
  • Test custom properties, data URLs, calc expressions, and unusual syntax before shipping the result.
