Random Number Generator

Generate random integers or decimal values within a defined range.

About the Random Number Generator

Generate one or many random numbers between a minimum and maximum. Integer bounds are inclusive, unique integer results are supported when the range is large enough, and decimal mode lets you choose precision. Integer generation uses the browser crypto random source with rejection sampling to avoid simple bounded-range bias. It is suitable for ordinary selection and testing, not a replacement for an audited key-generation protocol.

How to generate random numbers

  1. Set inclusive minimum and maximum values.
  2. Choose quantity and integer or decimal mode.
  3. Enable unique integers if repeats are not acceptable, then generate and copy the results.

Examples and worked results

Unique draw

Input
1 to 100, quantity 5, unique integers
Result
Five distinct values in the inclusive range

Random source and bounded ranges

Integer values use crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling so a range is not selected through simple modulo reduction. Decimal mode uses a finite displayed precision and does not offer uniqueness because arbitrary decimal uniqueness is not a defined finite set.

Common use cases

  • Picking test values and sample identifiers
  • Drawing numbers for games or classroom activities
  • Generating multiple bounded integers

Important notes and limitations

  • The generator is not physical randomness or a substitute for an audited key-generation system. Integer bounds must be safe JavaScript integers.

Practical tips

  • For a fair draw, use unique mode and ensure the requested quantity does not exceed the number of available integers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the integer limits inclusive?

Yes. Both the minimum and maximum can be returned.

Can I generate unique decimal values?

No. Unique mode is intentionally limited to integers because decimal uniqueness requires a defined finite grid.

Is this physical randomness?

No. It uses the browser cryptographic random source, not a physical random-number measurement.
